By Lionville Fire Company
March 28, 2013

On Thursday March 28th, at 05:33 am, the Lionville Fire Company (47), West Whiteland Fire Company (6) for an Engine, Fame Fire Company (53) for the Rapid Intervention Team (R.I.T.), and Uwchlan Ambulance (87) were dispatched to the 600 block of Brecknock Drive, in Uwchlan Township, for a reported house fire. Upon arrival, Chief 47 confirmed the County's report of a house well involved in fire. After confirming with the Uwchlan Police that the residents were out of the house, he directed incoming units to go into "defensive" Exterior Operations and requested the County to upgrade the assignment to a "Working Fire", which would bring additional resources.

While Engine 47-5 utilized their deck gun, Engine 6-1 connected to the hydrant to establish a water supply. Engine 47-5 then connected to Tower 47's Aerial to supply its master stream. After a short period of Exterior Operations, crews entered the building to extinguish the remaining fire. The fire was placed under control after 30 minutes. Salvage & Overhaul operations lasted for another 2 1/2 hours. Units were released after 09:00 am.

Additional companies responding to the call were the Malvern Fire Company (4) for the second R.I.T., and the East Whiteland Fire Company (5) for an Ambulance.

Special thanks to the Kimberton Fire Company (61) & Malvern Fire Company (4), who provided stand-by coverage at Station 47 while crews operated at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
