By President Mark Hull
May 24, 2026

It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that the members of the Lionville Fire Company announce the sudden passing of former Fire Chief George P. “Bud” Turner of the West Whiteland Fire Company.

For more than five decades, Chief Turner dedicated his life to protecting and serving the Exton/West Whiteland community with unmatched commitment, courage, and compassion. Rising through the ranks to serve as Chief on multiple occasions, he led not only with strength and professionalism, but with humility, integrity, and a steadfast sense of duty. His influence shaped generations of firefighters, and his leadership left an enduring mark on both the West Whiteland Fire Company and the broader fire service community.

In addition to his fire service, Bud faithfully served West Whiteland Township as a Township Supervisor, Fire Marshal, and Emergency Services Coordinator, further demonstrating his lifelong commitment to the safety and well-being of the community he cared so deeply about. He also served the fire company as President, continuing his legacy of leadership and dedication in every role he held.
He was a mentor, a friend, and a pillar of the brotherhood. Whether on the fireground, in the station, or within the community, his presence was a steady and reassuring force. His dedication exemplified the very best of the fire service, and his legacy will live on in every call answered and every life protected.

The members of the Lionville Fire Company extend our deepest condolences to his family, the membership of the West Whiteland Fire Company, and all who had the honor of knowing him. We ask the community to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

We have lost a true servant, a leader, and a friend to many, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding presence to all he came in contact with.

Rest easy, Chief. We’ll take it from here.
